A Carmel Valley mom called us with a situation a lot of families know well: they’d moved about a year ago, and the garage had never really been dealt with. Boxes from the move sat alongside stuff they actually used, piled next to things no one had touched since moving day.

Her husband handled his work equipment before we arrived. She had school drop-off at 9am and pick-up at 1pm, so she’d be in and out. Three of our organizers showed up and got after it.
What We Were Working With
The garage had never been fully unpacked. About 25% of it was ready to donate or trash. Another quarter was stuff worth keeping but not needing right away. The rest needed to stay — just better organized.
Some of the bulk items, to-do piles, and things that needed decisions couldn’t be fully resolved in a single session. We moved them into better positions rather than pretending they didn’t exist.
What Changed
Midway through the day, the client looked around at everything laid out and said it was already better than when we started. That’s the moment most clients feel it shift — not when it’s finished, but when they can see the floor again.
We finished in 6.5 hours. Donations left with our team. The garage wasn’t magazine-ready, but she could walk into it, find things, and take action on what was left. That was the goal.
