Our client’s garage hadn’t held a car in years. It held a storage pod’s worth of boxes instead.
She lives in a 1929 historic house, and her garage had never quite kept pace with it. Four years earlier, a storage pod sat in her driveway during a home remodel. When the remodel wrapped, everything inside it went straight into the garage, and stayed there. One garage door had been permanently sealed, so parking was never really the point. She wanted something else: her dream storage garage, a space that worked as hard as she did.
Where things stood
By the time she called us, the garage was doing five jobs at once. Five freestanding metal cabinets from Home Depot held some of it. A gift-wrapping station, a workbench, and a work table held more. A built-in laundry setup shared the same room. Boxes from two separate moves sat unopened. Bags of documents waited to be shredded. And because she entertains often, party and hosting supplies were mixed into all of it, some organized, most not.
She’d already bought a good number of bins and containers, hoping to get ahead of the project herself. What she needed wasn’t more product. She needed a plan for what she had, and a team to do the physical work of sorting and lifting. She’s been managing some health challenges, and she wanted us to handle the heavy part so she didn’t have to.
During our consultation call, we mapped it out together: what to keep, what the space needed to do for her day to day, and where a donation haul-away would clear the rest.
Transformation day
Our team showed up on what turned out to be the hottest day of the summer, for what turned out to be one of our bigger projects. Nobody complained. Steph, Stacey, Bella, and Kyle sorted through years of accumulation, category by category, using her own containers instead of bringing in new ones.
Stacey helped sort and categorize all of the contents. Bella took on the craft area and gave it real structure for the first time. Kyle tracked down every stray tool scattered across the garage and built a proper tool bench to hold them. By the end of the day, the team had pulled together an enormous donation load, and our hauling partner came through to clear out the rest of the junk.
The result
Our client walked into her finished garage and said it felt like her happy place.
The craft area has a home now. The tools have a bench. The metal cabinets, the gift-wrapping station, and the workbench are all still there, but each one does one job instead of holding whatever got shoved onto it. The team had momentum, and there were more boxes waiting in the house, so we kept going: her master closet, hall closet, guest room, and laundry room all got the same treatment before we left.
